About Mark

With over 40 years of coaching experience and an accomplished playing career, Mark Milburn has dedicated his life to developing players of all ages and abilities. His coaching philosophy is simple: Believe & Achieve. Through passion, technical expertise, and a commitment to every player, Mark has helped countless athletes reach their full potential—from beginners picking up a racquet for the first time to nationally and internationally ranked competitors.

Born in New Zealand, Mark began playing tennis at the age of seven. By just 16, he had earned the No. 1 position in the Otago representative team before winning the Southland Championships at 18. His standout playing year came in 1996, when he finished the season undefeated as the No. 1 player in the national interclub competition and achieved a New Zealand ranking of No. 15.

Throughout his career, Mark won the Otago Championships eight times (3 Singles and 5 Doubles), establishing himself as one of the country's most respected competitors.

Mark's coaching journey has taken him around the world, including time in the United Kingdom, where he coached at the Sutton Junior Tennis Centre in London. There, he assessed potential scholarship athletes while coaching high-performance juniors. He also had the rewarding opportunity to work with children with learning disabilities, further strengthening his belief that tennis has the power to inspire confidence, discipline, and lifelong enjoyment.

Developing Champions

Mark's greatest achievement is the success of the players he has developed. As both a coach and father, he has guided his three sons to outstanding national and international success.

Kai Milburn reached a career-high ITF Junior World Ranking of No. 82, won multiple international ITF junior titles, received the ITF Grand Slam Player Development Grant in consecutive years, and earned a full NCAA Division I scholarship to the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss).

Dan Milburn became New Zealand's No. 1 Under-18 player, won National Championships and multiple ITF Junior titles, earned ATP ranking points, and secured a Division I scholarship to Lamar University in the United States.

Noa Milburn has also established himself as one of New Zealand's top junior players, achieving a career-high ITF Junior World Ranking of No. 451 while representing New Zealand and competing on the international junior circuit.

The success of the Milburn brothers is a reflection of Mark's dedication to long-term player development, technical excellence, and creating athletes who can compete on the world stage.

Whether you're picking up a racquet for the first time, striving for tournament success, or pursuing a college scholarship or professional career, Mark is committed to helping every player become the best version of themselves.
